Use these blogging tools to effortlessly monitor your blog’s reputation

A few years ago I wrote a blog post 10 Things I Hate About Visiting Your Website,  not only was this one of the most controversial blog posts I’ve ever written, it was one of my most popular blog posts too.

As you might imagine, it was so controversial the article sparked a tremendous amount of comments and conversation on my Facebook Page.

Unfortunately, not all the comments were positive but that’s what happens when you take a stand and express your thoughts. Not everyone will agree with you or support your opinions and I’m fine with that.

In fact, someone wrote a scathing blog post of their own blasting me for what they called “violating” one of my own 10 points.

To be perfectly honest, for me the issue was not what they said because people will always have something to say. The real issue is having the capability to be aware of and manage what people say about your business online.

Now don’t worry this story has a happy ending…

Within 24 hours I was made aware of the blog but not by a person, by Google. YUP! Google!

Because of a very powerful tool called Google Alerts I was able to manage my reputation quickly.

The good news is with Google Alerts I was alerted about the blog post. You should always manage your reputation or know what people are saying about you so that’s why this article about five ways to use Google Alerts for business is extremely important.

With Google Alerts you can automatically monitor your name, your business name, and/or your product or service.

It’s so incredibly simple all you do is set it and forget. How cool is that!?

Did you know you can easily use Google Alerts as one of your most important blogging tools?

Here are 5 reasons why I LOVE Google Alerts:

1. You can track when Google discovers your new blog posts

If you are writing fresh new content every week for your blog or others you need Google to come across these posts so they can send traffic to your website. Adding Google Alerts to your blogging tools provides the tracking you need so you know exactly when Google uncovered your content.

2. You can easily monitor industry keywords

Want to know what’s happening in your industry on a niche? No need to search for additional blogging tools to monitor what’s happening. Use Google Alerts to monitor the internet for specific keywords, industry influencers, trends, or other market research to help you succeed.

3. You can automatically find fresh content ideas

One of the biggest issues for side hustlers I hear all the time is “I don’t know what to write” or “I’m running out of blog topics”. Google Alerts is at the top of the list for the best blogging tools available to unearth content ideas.

4. You can effortlessly spy on your competition

Using Google Alerts is an ethical way to stay on top of what your competition is doing. Using Google Alerts you can find out when your competition creates new blog posts or press releases. Nevertheless, there are paid blogging tools available if you need to go deeper.

5. You can learn about Guest Blogging opportunities

It would take hours or probably days to manually find guest blog opportunities in your industry or niche. Set up a Google Alert to do it for you. Having a comprehensive list of opportunities at your fingertips creates a powerful way for you to get more exposure.

Selecting the right blogging tools can be a pain but using Google Alerts can help you get started.
