hi

WordPress business website

When I started blogging back in 2006 I wasn’t using a WordPress business website. I was using raw html code because I was a budding website developer eager to implement the latest tools. As I began to work with more clients, I soon discovered using those tools to making changes was not only time consuming but difficult to keep up with.

The thing is, your website is never done. I’m not saying that to scare you or discourage you. The truth is, as soon as you finish making changes to the design and see your vision live you will want to change it. This is a fact! Come to think of it… no matter how many times you and your team review the site there will always be some sort of tweak or change that is needed.

Your WordPress business website is the foundation for your entire online and offline business so its has to be fresh. This is the one asset you have that works for you while you are sleeping, networking, vacationing and meeting with clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. If you build a strong foundation, It never stops working.  Simply stated, everything you do to market your business should start from or lead to your WordPress business website.

While working with a client telling her this same story she says… “I wish someone told me about building a WordPress business website before I spent a ton of money on a site that is not delivering as promised”. So here you go…

12 things you need to know about your WordPress business website

  1. It will save you money – you will no longer need to rely on a web developer to make routine changes to your web pages. See my blog “Who Gets To Keep The Website After You Divorce Your Webmaster?

  1. It is easy to add a blog post – if you know how to create an email then you can quickly create fresh blog content.

  1. It keeps your design separate from your content – if you get bored or tired of looking at your website design you can change the theme in seconds (no web designer needed).

  1. It is up to you to keep your website secure – to reduce vulnerability you need to keep your plugins, theme and WordPress version up to date.

  1. It can automatically post comments to Facebook – there are plugins available that will post comments left on your blog directly to your Facebook business page.

  1. It has built in features that Google loves – after years of building websites using a variety of business blog software I have found for driving traffic all blogs are not created equal in search engines.

  1. It has just about anything you want – the basic installation of WordPress has more features than the average small business owner will use. However if what you need is not available there are plenty of plugins to accomplish your task.

  1. It doesn’t cost you a cent – Unlike some software you will need to run your business WordPress won’t cost you a cent. Most hosting companies have it built in as part of your service.

  1. It can grow as your business grows – you do not have to worry about outgrowing your website. You can add as many pages and blog posts as you like.

  1. It is mobile friendly – as of version 3.8 WordPress automatically recognizes if your visitors are on their mobile device and adjust accordingly.

  1. It has features to make updates on the fly – if you need to make a quick blog post but are not near your desk or your laptop you can whip out your smartphone (or tablet) to get it done fast.

  1. It has multiple user potential – you can set-up multiple users for the website with different access levels and capabilities.
